After our presentation in Brussels in November,  we have been asked to join the official delegation of the belgian Minister of foreign affairs Mr Karel de Gucht to Ashgabat.

It was a great honour for us to be able to join this group and espacially as it has been during the Neutrality holiday. So we were able to assist these festivities. A real unique experience to live, unfortunately too short.

By the way, another Teke was given away as state present. This time the lucky country was Tadjikistan.

Myr almost drowned!

Myr was at his pasture during the day, just as every day........
But he was very lucky. It really was a coincidence that Peter was outside, at around 0 degrees Celsius that he saw that Myr was not in his pasture but in the small river. Myr must have been in the water already quite a while, .but to get back into his pasture there is electrcity fence and the other side is even worse. Myr couldn't get out on his own. Luckily Peter could rescue him and even if he was shivering for hours Myr didn't get hurt.

It was a great honour for us that, during the venue of his Excellency the President of Turkmenistan,
Mr Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov to Brussels, from 5th to 7th november, stay during which he met Mr Baroso and other high officials , that we were asked to present our Akhal-Tekes.

So far most surely no breeder in the west was able to present his horses to the President of the mother country Turkmenistan.
We thought to show horses different in type colour and discipline.
In order to have dressage presented as well we have asked our friend Héloise to join us to Brussels.

During 3 days, we exposed 3 horses Myr, Sugun & Sharanli vk in Nancy, located in northeastern France.

Héloise  has done a great job by organising the opportunity within this fair called Chevalissimo held in Nancy in France to show our Akhal-tekes.  She did even organise an ancient yourte.  9 Tekes were shown to around 10.000 visitors. The horses from our stud were Sugun, Myr and Sharanli vK.

BEST IN SHOW
in Luxembourg at the Agricultural fair 2007

In order to promote the breed, the Akhal-Teke horse association, ATHa had organized its first Show at the luxembourgish agricultural fair which is held every year in the northern part of the country in the town of Ettelbrück.
Though Maak members had, in a first step, confirmed their venue, they did cancel it one week ahead of the event. So the association had to find other judges and was happy that Kamal Mirhodjaev from Uzbekistan , Kätlin Leisson and Kaido Pussepp, from Estonia were willing to come and do the grading job. For those who don’t know these persons: the three are Akhal-Teke breeders. Additionnaly, the first mentioned is in the board of the uzbek equestrian federation and the thwo others are veterinaries.
The horses participating come from the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, France and Austria, so this event can claim that it was somehow a small european championship.

Kara Leylek stud had engaged 3 horses, Sharanli vK, 2 years old, by Sugun (by Sumbar, sire line El) out of Guldesse (by Serasker, sire line Sere) was entered in the colts class.
Then Ganesh, 11 years and qualified for CEI*** in the adult mares class. She is also by Sugun and is out of Geran, a Gelishikli mare out of Arslan. Finally their common father Sugun, who is this year 20 years old was engaged in the sire class.

Of course each horse owner and espacially breeders are convinced that their own horses are the most beautiful and best. The more happy were we, that the judges had the same opinion. The 3 horses of ours did win the class they were engaged in! In fact each judge did evaluate as it is common in Europe 10 different criterias, such as head, neck, shoulder, hindquarters, movement, type etc. The sheets were only provided with the starting number and the judges did not discuss with each other during the grading time. At the end of the presentations calculations were made and the average from the 3 judges were taken with the following result:

Sharanli vK with an overall note of 7,9, Ganesh with 8,4 and Sugun with 8,4.

But the scoop of the day, certainly was that our lady GANESH was praised as CHAMPION of the day, she became BEST IN SHOW for having been slighlty graded a little better as her father.

 Sugun

Vienna calling :

M. Adam Dixon had the lovely initiative to promote the Teke through his central asian festival at the racetrack in the Freudenau in Vienna, Austria.

We took both Sugun as well as his son Smele Leylek vK who is besides his career as sire now also slowly introduced to his new additionnal profession to be a sportshorse.
